Bouznika Point · Mehdia

Bouznika Point

  • Point Break
  • Intermediate
  • 2-6 ft
  • Oct-Mar
  • Crowd 4/5

Bouznika Point is between Casablanca and Rabat, at the end of a bay with a long beach. It needs a west swell, and when it's on, it's one of the best waves on this stretch of coast.

There are rocks and sea urchins, so booties help. It gets busy with surfers from both cities at weekends.

Mehdia

  • Right Reef
  • Intermediate
  • 2-6 ft
  • Oct-Mar
  • Crowd 2/5

Mehdia is a right reef near the mouth of the Sebou river, close to Kenitra and about 40 minutes north of Rabat. It's best at low tide and usually not crowded.

The river makes the water dirty, especially after rain, and there are rocks. It's a local wave, mostly surfed by people from Kenitra and Rabat.

Getting to Rabat coast and around Casablanca & Rabat

Casablanca (CMN) is the main international airport. Fast trains link Casablanca, Rabat and Kenitra.

  • Petit taxi ($2-8): Small metered taxis inside each city. Ask the driver to use the meter.
  • Rental car ($25-45/day): Easiest way to reach Dar Bouazza, Bouznika and Mehdia. City traffic is heavy; go early.
