Plan a trip that includes Do'o

The wave

Do'o is a left next to the small island of Ndao, west of Rote. It's fast, shallow and hollow, and you get there by chartered outrigger boat from Nemberala.

When it lines up (3-8ft SW swell, east winds and the right tide), the barrels are as good as the Mentawais, with very few people. The reef is shallow and live coral, so wear booties, bring a spare board and only paddle out if you surf shallow reef regularly.

Arrange the boat on the beach at Nemberala and bring food and water. Ndao village is known for its silversmiths. Advanced surfers only in the water, though anyone can come along on the boat.
